Hi, Jon here from Mindset Universe and I’m going to explain how to stop anxiety muscle tension.

Anxiety can cause muscle tension.

But by practicing muscle relaxation as part of your daily routine or when you get anxious, this can reduce that anxiety quite quickly.

Why? It’s a mind trick! When your mind senses that your muscles are relaxing then it will start to control other symptoms of anxiety. Like rapid breathing!

Speaking of anxiety and breathing, have you checked this out?

Breathe Anxiety Workbook

This is a really popular way for dealing with anxiety and just needs a little bit of practice and patience.

Starting with the muscles in your face and slowly moving down the muscle groups in your body, do the following:

  1. Tense that muscle for 5 seconds.
  2. Release the tension and when you do, say “relax” to yourself.
  3. After another 5 seconds, move onto the next muscle and repeat these steps.

How simple is that?

When I do this technique, I don’t worry about trying to do every muscle in the body but just the major muscle groups. If you want to do this then use the technique with the following areas of your body:

  1. Face
  2. Shoulders
  3. Stomach
  4. Thighs
  5. Buttocks
  6. Lower legs and feet

This really works for me and these body areas seem simple to concentrate on.

Another thing to consider is tension. Where in your body does tension normally build? For me it’s in my shoulders but it might be different for you.

If you have a specific area of your body that gets tense, then make sure you include this in your muscle relaxation routine.

How does this make you feel?

Be sure to let everyone know how you feel in the comments.

Thanks for watching and try not to worry when you don’t have to.
